Word Files Contain Nothing, Just Garbage

Hi,

I am having a very bizarre problem with Word 2003. I had several .doc
files saved by Word 2003 on a PC that are ok - I have saved and
reopened them multiple times without error. I burned these files to a
DVD to bring to school, and when I open the files, they contain
absolutely nothing: just a bunch of squares. Word first asks me if I
would like to install the proper converter (but it is a DOC file
already!).

I thought that perhaps it was a faulty disc, but all the other files on
the disk work fine...except .doc files. I tried running a Repair to no
avail. What is going on??

Thanks,
Ryan

Ryan,

You might want to check to see if the school's computer has the proper
Word version installed. Secondly, to troubleshoot your problem, you
should save a couple of different version of your file in Word in an
ealier version and burn them on your CD. Take it to the school computer
to see if any of them will open. Sometime different version can cause
problems.
