word files with tables corrupt

my files have many tables and the files are brought up
frequently and changes made, then saved. When these files
are brought up the third or fourth time, they corrupt. MS
Word "repair" does not repair the tables. The worst is
when files that were developed in MS Word 2002 are brought
up in MS Word 2003, they corrupt. Anyone with the same
experience? Any solutions. Microsoft offered alot, but
none work.
