word files won't open

when I try to open ms word files they will come up but no
text shows and then the computer freezes up and I have to
reboot -- Help!

Hi Jop,

Here is a KB article that gives good troubleshooting steps on Word. I would go through all the steps in this article and see if
any of them address the issue. The article is:
