Word "Flashing title bar"

I open and then try to work on a previously saved Word
file and it hangs there with the blue title bar flashing.
What's with that 'n' how do I fix it?

Hi, rob. If you are running Norton/Symantec Antivirus, try disabling
the Office Plugin that comes with it by clicking on Start | Programs |
Norton | Options | Miscellaneous | uncheck the "Enable Office Plugin" box.
