word footnote/endnote commands

In trying to remove the footnote/endnote separator line in WORD for
OSX, the help file directs you to switch to Footnotes View from the
View menu and then do one of the following:
1) "in the note pane, click All Footnotes or All Endnotes"
2) "click Footnote Continuation Notice or Endnote Continuation
Notice"
But there is no sign of these things. What and where is the footnote
pane? What and where are the Footnote Continuation Notice or Endnote
Continuation Notice?
It would appear that these are instructions for the Windows program
that were simply copied into the Help file for the Mac version but in
fact these things do not exist in the Mac version. If not, can someone
please tell me where they are?

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Not in X, but very familiar with notes....

In Normal View, click View | Footnotes, a pane should appear at bottom, with
all notes in it (similar to a Split Window view).

The top of the pane should have a drop down menu set to "All Footnotes".
Click the arrow next to it, should get drop down options that include
Footnote Continuation Separator. Select that.

Then Footnotes pane should show the Continuation Separator, a long line,
which you can then select, delete, or edit as desired.

Does that help? If not, post back with specifically what goes wrong.

FYI, if you are writing long documents, Normal View is often faster, give it
a try?
