Word for Mac - Grouping Images

D

Dave

I am using Word 2004 for Mac (v. 11) on an iMac G5 (OS X). I am trying to
group two images--a picture and a text box. The directions under help say
that, to do so, I must select both images by holding down shift and clicking
on them. Then it's simply a matter of clicking on "formatting pallette,"
selecting "size, rotation and ordering," and clicking on "grouping." The
problem is that I cannot select both images. When I hold down shift and
click on an image, the image is not selected. Without shift, I can only
select one image at a time, and thus cannot group. What's the deal? You'd
think something so simple wouldn't cause problems. Any help would be
appreciated.

Hi Dave -

First, this is the Word ng for the Windows version, so you would be better
off addressing MacWord questions to;

http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.mac.office.word

Even though the issues & answers are often the same there can be distinct
differences on the separate platforms.

On this one though, it sounds like one or both of the objects is set to In
Line with Text - most likely the picture. If you change the Text Wrapping to
something else you will be able to select & group the two. In Line graphics
cannot be grouped.
