Hi,
Using Word 2002 and Outlook 2002 in a network, Exchange 2003
environment:
In Outlook, the user has changed their default address book from Global
Address List to their personal Contacts folder (the one that appears
under the "Outlook Address Book" heading: TOOLS | ADDRESS BOOK | "show
names from the" dropdown).
In Word, user clicks the Address Book icon in the Envelopes/Labels
screen (TOOLS | LETTERS AND MAILINGS | ENVELOPES AND LABELS).
First time it will bring up the address book that is assigned as the
default in Outlook -in this case, "Contacts".
User picks someone from that list or hits the close button without
picking anyone (doesn't matter which). Still within the Envelopes and
Labels window (having never exited this window) user clicks Address
Book icon again. This time, and every subsequent time, it brings up
the Global Address List instead of the default "Contacts" address book.
If the user sets Global Address List (GAL) as default contact list,
Word never forgets it. Word will always bring up the GAL as default
when clicking the address book in the Envelopes and Labels window.
If the user sets *any* Exchange address book (those listed under "All
Address Lists") as the default, Word will *always* remember that. The
only time users have a problem is when the default contact list is one
that appears listed under the "Outlook Address Book" category. That
is, Word will not remember default contacts from the users mailbox, but
it will remember those which are setup in the Recipients section of the
Exchange System Manager.
We've observed this behavior in all installations of Word 2002. I have
Office 2003 and have not experienced this problem.
Any ideas on how to fix this? Are we doing something wrong?
Thanks for any help!
Take care,
Donatello
