Word form template

There is a Word form template on the shared drive at work. The
document is protected but some users keep saving changes to it and
messing it up. Is there a way to prevent this and reset the form
fields to blank after it is saved. Also I would need to prompt the
user or automatically have them save their version to protect the
template. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,
Allison

Hi allie,

Is this a real Word template - with a .dot extension, or just a standard document with a .doc extension being used as a template? If
it's the latter, change it to the former; that way whenever someone wants to create a new document, they'll have to choose the
appropriate template via File|New or one will be created automatically for them if they double-click on the template. That way, it's
much harder to accidentally edit the template.
