The Trial 2003 word that came on my new XP last week. I
download last week when I received my new XP Compaq
Pessario 6000 series computer. Today brought up a burnt
disc made from Word 2000, 98 operating system. I Load the
2000 word files in the new XP cd rom. Those files did not
show my borders and other formating. I received a window
error stating to put in a disc to obtain art.
I have a trial version. Can I continue trying the 2003
Word. If so, can you tell me how I can obtain borders and
art since there was no trial disc that came with my new
computer? All my former files were made in Office Word
2000. Should I remove the 2003 Word and install my 2000
office disc so I can work on my old 2000 word files? Or
buy an upgrade from the 2000 to 2003 so I could see my old
formating on the screen? Nancy 614-863-2534

If the version of Word 2000 that you copied from your old computer was an
OEM version (came installed on the computer), then you can't legally (or
perhaps even practically) install it on the new computer. If it was a retail
version (you bought it after you got the computer and installed it
yourself), then you should have access to all its features, but you may have
to rerun setup to install them. And if you don't install the clip art to run
from the HD, then yes, you do have to insert the CD every time you want to
access the clip art. IIRC, the clip art was on a separate second CD in
Office 2000.
