Word freeze

Mike

Windows 98SE. Works suite 2000 W/Word. The Word splash screen comes up and
freezes the machine. I have removed all viruses and spyware. I've reinstalled
Win 98 over the top. Repaired, uninstalled and reinstalled Word. The freeze
remains.

Uninstalling/reinstalling rarely fixes a problem. Chances are that you
need to upgrade your Video Driver. See this article for an explanation
and way to test...

I deleted Normal.dot and restarted. Everything seems to work now. I'll see
how it goes when I get back tonight and have time to put it through the
paces. Mike.

FYI...DELETING Normal.dot is not the best move because it can delete
things you might want to keep, such as style, autotext, toolbars or
macros. You might want to check out this TechTrax article to get a
little more insight for next time.
