Word freezes up changing formatting

M

MarkD

I have a problem similar to DR Huffman

Word freezes up randomly when a process like formating
lists with bullets, removing bold in tables, adding
underline to text. All actions are through the toolbar
icons.

Sure could use some help!!!

Thanks

All of these problems point to a possibly damaged printer driver. Try
deleting and reinstalling the printer.

Thanks for the tip Suzanne. It didn't work though. I
even tried using a different printer on my network and
had the same problem. When ever my computer freezes up
my CPU usage goes through the roof (100%). Also my
document is over 13 MB and its only got text and 1 table
in it for a total of 12 pages.

Any other ideas?

Again, thanks for the help.

There are a number of reasons for excessive file size, including:

1. Fast Saves: Disable this at on the Save tab of Tools | Options.

2. Preview Picture: Clear the check box on the Summary tab of File |
Properties.

3. Versions (File | Versions): Make sure "Automatically save version on
close" is not turned on.

4. Revisions (Tools | Track Changes):
Highlight Changes: Make sure "Highlight changes on screen" is turned on.
Accept/Reject Changes: If "Accept All" or "Reject All" is available then
revisions are present; accept or reject all changes, then turn Track Changes
off.

5. Embedded True Type fonts (Tools | Options | Save)

6. Embedded graphics: When feasible, it is preferable to link the graphics.

7. Document corruption: See
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm.

In your case, #7 sounds likely. Note, too, that if you're printing to a
network printer and don't have the driver installed locally, Word will not
function properly when you're not connected to the network.
