Word freezes when opening from Entourage

P

Paul Dworin

Whenever I try to open a word doc directly from Entourage, Word starts
to open and then freezes with the Word icon on my desktop. the only way
I can get rid of it is by force quit.

I can open the docs if I drag and drop to the desktop.
Thanks for any help.

Try a Repair Permissions using Disk Utility. It sounds as though Word is
hanging attempting to create the Lock file or the Backup file. It needs
full access to the Entourage Saved Attachments folder.

I've just posted a new topic that sounds related to this. In MY case,
the user is copying text from an Entourage mail message (Entourage
2004) and is copying the text into a Word v. x document (10.1.6).
Everything's fine until the user tries to "find/replace" -which causes
Word to beachball (hang).
Subsequent "find/replace" commands cause Word to hang as well
(regardless of whether it's a cut-and-pasted text file or a file
originated in Word).
I've got some very unhappy sub-editors here...

I just posted a new answer to it: Disable Complex HTML in Entourage and see
if that fixes it... See my post of a minute ago...
