Word freezes when using a template

I have a problem with one specific template (containing macros) that is being
used by a few people in our office from different machines (the template is
saved on the server and workers get access to it through Tools > Options >
File Location > wrokgroup templates) . One time out of ten, Word would freeze
while using this specific template. I heard about template corruption. Could
this be the case? If so, why does it work fine most of the time then suddenly
plays up? is there a way i can find which part exactly in the template is the
corrupted one so i can fix it? or do i have to re-design the whole thing from
scratch? If i start from scratch, what do i need to be careful of so i don't
end up with another corrupted template?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Open the template using the Open and Repair option. In the File Open dialog,
attached to the OPEN button is an arrow, click on it to see the Open and
Repair option. SO select the temp;late and use the option to see if that
finds the errors.

If not, then open a copy of the template and use SaveAs and choose RTF.
Close it and then reopen it and use SaveAs to revert back to a Word .doc.
