Hello:
I am using word 2007. Two nights ago my computer was rebooted after
automatic updates while two files were still open in word. After computer is
up, word doesnot respond. It just come on the screen a blank document and a
side bar containing the autosaved documents. If I click on any button WORD
becomes unstable and just freezes. Excel is fine, power point is fine it is
only word that is acting weird.

A log of the problem follows:

Hi Stefan:
thank you for your reply. As a matter of fact I ran diagnostics and it said
it repaired one problem. However, the problem still persisted. I went
through MS experience database. It seems that the latest service pack SP1
causes a problem in the registry. After I ran regedit, I was able to go and
delete a file by the name data located in HKEY_USER_MICROSOFT/OFFICE........
that seemed to have solved the problem for now.

FYI The location of that registry entry is actually:
\HKEY_USERS\S*****\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data

the ***** is specific to the user account, in my case it was about 40 digit
long number so look in each one you find.

It will reset toolbars and such (small price) and will be rebuilt upon
restart of word.
