Word Freezing While Saving a File

Each time I try to save a file from word into another folder other than
My Documents folder it freezes on me and I have to close it from the
task manager. When I go to save the file, Word takes me directly to My
Documents folder to save it in, but then when I double-click on another
folder to save it in the whole program freezes. I am using Word 2003 on
Windows XP Home SP2, does anyone know how I could fix this problem?
Could it be a virus?

The problem is linked to Microsoft Update KB908531.
Remove this update with Add/Remove Programs (make sure you tick the
"show updates" box)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB908531)

check also for any mapped drives that aren't connected.
