the spell check in French?

Hello TKS -

The 'trick' is understanding that Word treats foreign language in a doc as
Formatting, so...

1. Select the text that's written in another language.
2. On the Tools menu, click Language.
3. In the Mark selected text as box, click the language you want to check,
and then click OK.
4. When you finish marking the text, do one of the following:
€ Automatically check spelling and grammar as you type
€ Check spelling and grammar all at once
When the spelling checker encounters the marked text, it uses the specified
language dictionary to check the text. Then, the spelling checker returns to
the default language dictionary to check the rest of the document.

More is available in Word Help if you search it using keywords such as
foreign language; European; proofing tools, as well as other related terms.

If you have any problems, first make sure that 'Word 5.1 Menus' isn't
displayed in the View menu - if it is, simply select it to make it go away.
Otherwise post back in detail & specify which English version of Word you're
actually using.

If you mainly write in French, you could change the Normal Template too
to make your life easier.
Open the Normal tempate, select all, change the language to French and
save it.
All new documents will be based on this setting and will be seen as
French by Word.
