Word functions are gone

I am using Office 2001. Excel and Power Point still work great, but
Word is not. When I open a Word document, none of the top line works,
i.e. file, edit, etc. The only thing that works is font. So I have
to use the keyboard for all functions. Also I can't get the
formatting palatte at all. Any ideas?
