Word gets hung up every time I try to generate my TOC

Word 2002

I can generate a TOC from the copy of my manual as it was sometime last
week, but I can't get it to do the TOC my finished document. I have to go to
Task Manager and end the task (and the program) each time I try. I have not
had this happen before.

Sounds like it may be partially corrupt. A first test I would suggest is to
open the DocMap and carefully check that DocMap can see all the correct
headings. If DocMap cannot see some headings, or there are any corrupt
headings, you should see them in DocMap.
