I have a user (domain) who is having a strange issue in Excel, Powerpoint and
Word 2003. When you browse through the Open dialog to a file, the application
will hang for up to 2-5 minutes before opening a local path or network path.
However ,if you browse through Windows Explorer to the folder and
double-click the file, it launches the application and opens the file no
problem. It only happens when opening from within the application. The
strange thing is that it hangs on opening the FOLDER, not a file. Office SB
2003 had all the latest updates and service packs (SP3). OS is WinXP Pro SP2.

Thanks for any help!

This will occur when you have a mapped network drive that is unavailable.
What's happening is it's attempting to connect to the drive but then
eventually times out. If you disconnect the unavailable network drive then
you won't encounter the delay.
