Word hangs on opening

Using Windows98 and Office 2000.

Word hangs when I try to open it. Cntl, Alt, Delete does not work then. I
must turn off the power to reboot. All other Office products are OK.

I have gone through the "Repair" procedure on the disk, restored Program
Files|Microsoft Office from a backup and checked Microsoft Knowledge Base.

Hope I don't have to uninstall and reinstall Office, don't want to lose all
my many Excel settings.

Any one have any suggestions? Please!

I received no responses from my post. However, through Google I found the
problem. For any who would like to know it was a corrupted Normal.dot file
