Word 2000 SP3 on Windows 2000 SP4
Afternoon all.
By habit I sometimes close the Word file by using the Close icon in the top
right corner of the session window. Never used to be a problem, but recently
Word now hangs when I press this icon. The file closes and luckily it is
saved, but the application stays open and I have to use Task Manager – End
Task (or right-hand mouse) to close completely, before I can then open a new
session.
When opening and closing I don't get any error messages or warnings.
If I use File/Close, Word closes perfectly and never hangs.
Can anyone indicate what application file may be missing/corrupted that can
affect the close icon, and any course of action I can take to rectify this
annoying problem. As I am at work, the installation files are networked and
not easily accessible, so a reinstall is not an option.
Many thanks in advance.
