Very weird!!
A while back the attached documents I was receiving started opening in TextEdit rather than Word, which had always been the default for opening attached files. Couldn't figure it out, and simply right clicked and chose Pages. But today I really needed to open Word and it HAS VANISHED!!!! It isn't in the Trash or anywhere! How can an entire application simply vanish??
Where should I look for it?
Please someone help!!

Hello,
Is is not in your Applications folder->Microsoft Office 2004? Do you have
other apps installed there? If you don't see it there, I would click on the
magnifying glass in the top right of your computer screen to search via
Spotlight for Microsoft Word. If you don't see the application you may need
to re-install. Another option might be get the latest version of Word in
the Microsoft Office 2008 suite (details at:
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/Office2008/shop-now.mspx).

Good luck,

Hi!
It definitely isn't in the Applications folder and I have tried to find it using Spotlight a number of times. I just don't get how an application can so completely disappear! What would cause it? So that it isn't even in the Trash. The only remaining sign of it is in the dock, where it has that sinister looking grey question mark underneath it!

Spotlight may not be looking in your Applications folder. It was inhibited
on my computer. Check your System Preferences>Spotlight...

The easiest way for an application to vanish without trace is to drag it
into another folder by mistake. That's probably why it's not in the trash.

So you need to get spotlight working :) Make sure if you search for an
application you CAN see that Spotlight finds it.

Cheers
