word help

i can not open word properly, so i can not get the product
id to be able to send an email support request...

word opens then immediately proceeds to display an error
message to the effect that it "has encounterd a problem
and needs to close."

i have not used word in a while, i'm not sure when it
began to do this...

i have tried reinstalling it from my MS WorksSuite 2000
(which i bought before XP came out) but it still exhibits
the same behavior....

what should i do short of hari kari?

ok, thanks to mvp site i learned to leave a space
before /a

now where should normal.dot be?

instructions on finding Normal.dot. Note also that if you have Word as part
of Works Suite and are running it freestanding (not starting it from the
Works Task Launcher), it will run much better if you uninstall the Microsoft
Works Suite Add-in for Word (through Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs).
