Word hung on XP system. After reboot, word document is on taskbar and will not close and WINWORD.ex

I am an IT Helpdesk professional, and this is the first time I have
seen this happen. A user called because her XP system hung yesterday.
Now, everytime she reboots, the document that she was working on when
the system hung, opens on the taskbar. I tried to end Winword.exe in
Task Manager, that didn't work. I tried renaming normal.dot to see if
that would help, that didn't work. I rebooted, and the document is
still there, how do I end this locked or ghost document that appears
locked on the taskbar?
