Word in Office 2001 for Mac keeps bombing/freezing ("addresserror")

Marky

I use Microsoft Word as part of Office 2001 for the Mac, on Apple system
9.2.

Suddenly I am finding that every time I launch Word I get a bomb symbol and
the message "address error". I'm compelled to press the restart button but
when I do the whole thng freezes and I have to do a manual reboot. It's
happening again and again and again.

I have dumped my Prefs file, I've tried a custom reinstall of Word, but
nothing works and I can't think what else to do. I'm stuck without being
able to get into Word, which has all my work documents.

If any kind soul knows a solution to this I would be most grateful to hear
it.

Thanks.

Hi Marky,

A custom reinstall of Word may have made things worse, by the way. This
tends to leave files in the wrong places, or orphaned, and can create
glitches.

Try the standard troubleshooting tips listed here:
http://word.mvps.org/Mac/TroubleshootWord2001.html

You might need to leap straight to Remove and Reinstall (under General
Troubleshooting) to clean up your system, but you might Rebuild the Desktop
first.

Hope that helps.
