Word in Office 2004 for mac: font size changes when text copied/pa

Whenever I copy part of a Word document by selecting text and pasting it into
a new Word document, the font size in the last page or so of text changes,
generally getting larger. Sometimes it changes at additional, apparently
random places in the text, usually (possibly always) in whole paragraphs. Any
solutions?

Thanks, Suzanne. I'm still not sure why the change in font size is limited to
a few places in the pasted text, if the Normal style in the new document
applies to the entire new document.
