Word in Office 2007 Documents Not Working

Sherri

Someone help me if you have had and solved this problem! I have done
everything shown on MS help pages, and HP support has advised, including
reinstalling my Office 2007 program entirely, starting Word in Safe Mode,
locating the Normal/Document1 files, etc, moving/deleting/changing file
type/template, etc. I can't get anything to solve this problem. When I open
any document, or start Word with a new document, I get that message asking me
if I want to load "Normal" (which by the way, I can't find anymore files
named that anywhere on my hard drive even after "showing hidden files", and I
have tried every variation of this to find it), if I say Yes or No the same
thing happens, it opens a blank page, and I am able to only use the toolbar
at the top, and can type inside the document with my keyboard, but can not
use my mouse to navigate the document or use the sliding bar on the right,
the mouse ONLY works on the navigation at the top of the document. I can not
highlight and edit any parts of my existing documents, because I can't use my
mouse at all in it. I also have tried to do some troubleshooting offered by
MS under "damaged documents troubleshooting" and a lot of the methods I can't
even do, because when I go to the "Office" icon in the top left, and then to
"word options" as it tells me to, I am unable to go into the menus (except
the first which is already selected), so I can't make any changes they
suggest to try. If anyone can help me, please let me know! I am really
stuck, this is a business computer, and if I can't get my documents working
for my clients, I'm in big trouble! I have tried everything I know to try,
and am still working with HP support, however they keep telling me basically
the same things over and over that either don't work, or the system won't
allow me to do.

Thank you!!!

If Word is not working in safe mode then you have a major problem that may
not be simple to cure.

If Word is asking you if you wish to load 'normal' then the chances are that
you have a duplicate of the normal template in the Word of Office startup
folder - http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProblemsStartingWord.htm. will
show you how to locate those folders and provides a list of problem solving
techniques..

If Word does not see a normal template in the user templates folder, it will
attempt to create one when it starts. If you don't allow it to save that
template when you close Word, then the created template is deleted until
next time.

Ensure that you delete all unwanted temporary files with Word and Outlook
closed and preferably after a reboot.

You *may* need to update your mouse driver and you *may* need to update your
printer driver as Word 2007 appears to have issues with some examples of
either.

Hi,

I think you can try a utility called Advanced Word Repair to repair
your Word document. It works rather well for my corrupt Word
documents. Its web address is http://www.datanumen.com/awr/
