word in open then opens pdf file but does not open to adobe read

Word 2002 user trying to open PDF file

I have a user who says she opens word 2002 and then locates her pdf file and
it would open for her via word but now suddenly it doesn't work. This is news
to me. I opened up the file in adobe reader fine. I checked the associations
and all directed correctly.
I think she is blowing smoke but wanted to check before I advise her.

I don't know if she's blowing smoke but she is confused. I have ScanSoft's
PDF Converter software on my system and I can open a .pdf in Word so that it
can be edited. I cannot save it back as a .pdf tho. It has to be saved as a
Word doc. I also have Acrobat Pro so I don't use the converter software
much.
