Word in XML

One potential way to freeze Word styles would be to
include autoFormatOverride ="false" in the XML version of
a Word document. I have not been able to prevent this
attribute from being overridden. Has anyone done this
and/or run Word in XML format?
Thank you.

Hi Bob,

I'm not sure what you're asking... In the Word interface
(2003 ONLY), you'd display the "Protect document" taskpane,
activate style protection, and then you'd have to "Start
enforcing protection" (which can include a password).

But there's absolutely no way to prevent "tampering" with
this setting if the document has been saved in XML format.
The whole point of XML is that it's an "open" format.
