Word - inserting an address

B

Bill Stevenson

With prior versions, I could choose to insert home,
business, or the other address for a particular contact
listing. I cannot seem to do that in Word 2003. I have
uninstalled and reinstalled office after detect and repair
failed to fix the problem. Prior versions of office say
the problem is a corrupted file, which detect and repair
should fix. Please suggest an answer. Thank you.

Hi Bill,
I'm not certain I quite understand what you are trying to accomplish but as
far as I can remember the only way you could insert a address into a Word
document would be from a Outlook address book. If that is what you are
asking about here are the instructions from the online help that discuss
the way to accomplish this.

Address an envelope by using an electronic address book

You can insert addresses from the following online address books: a
Microsoft Outlook Address Book or Contact List, a Microsoft Schedule+ 95
Contact List, or the Personal Address Book. If you've installed Outlook,
the Schedule+ 95 Contact List is not available.

Note You can use the Insert Address button to select an address from your
contacts list. To add an address to your contacts list, you must add it to
the address book in your e-mail program.

On the Tools menu, point to Letters and Mailings, and then click Envelopes
and Labels.
Click the Envelopes or Labels tab.
Click Insert Address .
In the Show Names from the box, click the desired address book or contact
list.
In the Type Name or Select from list box, enter a name. Or click a name in
the list.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my message. The
problem is when I click on insert address, which is a
button one can add to the main toolbar to help put the
inside address (recipient address) on a letter from one's
Outlook Address book, only a portion of the dialogue box
comes up. This only allows you to paste the default
address, rather than one of the alternate addresses in the
address book. This option is present in Office XP but not
in Office 2003.

I am hoping Microsoft will see this and tell me what I am
overlooking here.
