Word is acting a little weird... help.

my word 2007 is starting to go on the fritz. first of all every once and a
while when i open word (or close it) it just sits there with the little
spinning cursor.

but now over the past day its functioning has started to deteriorate. I was
finishing a new document, and I saved it, closed word, reopened to the doc 15
minutes later and it said it was corrupt (this was new). I repaired and
resaved it several times, but everytime it said it was corrupt. I finally
sent the file to someone else who resaved it and sent back. it worked fine
then.

Now, I was just working on a new document, and it is doing weird things
like: not allowing me to remove automatic borderlines that it makes from the
underscore key. Not letting me delete writing. not displaying tables when i
press the insert table button. and here is the kicker.....

it is now automatically turning on the display formatting (backward P)
function everytime I type. I turn off the paragraph formatting, and it
automatically turns itself back on when i press a key.

Please help.

What happens if you start Word in Safe Mode? From Start, Run, type in

winword /a

and press enter. Use Word in safe mode for a while and see if that has
stopped the problem. This will aid diagnosis.
