Word is deleting spaces between words and sentences

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel I am a writer and editor who works on large Word files (200 - 300 pages). I just sent a 300-page manuscript to a colleague and all of the spaces between words and sentences were removed when she opened the file on her PC! My file looks fine but when she sent me the file she had opened, all the spaces were gone. This is a disaster for me if i can't find a fix. Anyone know how to fix?
Thanks!

One of you is missing some important updates. Make sure your copy of Word
is fully up-to-date, and that hers is also.

Cheers

Ive downloaded every update that shows up on the updated. I've passes docs to this same person for months with no problems, so not sure why now when neither of us has changed computers. Any ideas?

Thanks!

: Have you actually seen the problem?
: is it this way only on screen or also when printing?
: is the printer driver on one of the machines messed up?
: can your colleague create a PDF copy of the file and send back to you
to demonstrate the problem? How about a fax of a printout?
: is it the same on another computer at your colleague's location?
: are you sure both your machines are fully up to date?

Yes, she sent the doc back to me and I saw it.
It is this way on screen and when printed.
The doc is the same on her computer and now, my computer as well.
I don't know about her computer updates. What I know about mine is that the updater identifies available updates every week and I always download them. If there are updates beyond that, then I don't have them. And I have been passing other docs to this person for quite a while without incident. Not sure why it's starting now. Very strange.
Thanks, again.

I suspect she's running Windows Office 2003 and has not applied the update
that Microsoft put out to fix this problem.

Get her to run Windows Update, several times, until it offers nothing more,
and say "Yes" to everything it offers :)

Hope this helps

Always a chance, but in this case, I think it is a very small chance. It's
more likely that it's a missing patch. There was a bug that did exactly
this.

I agree. It's as though something or someone is removing all spaces. This is
easily replicated by doing a simple find and replace. Any chance this could
be a virus?
