Word is so slow

U

Unclelen

I will apologise first if this request has already been addressed, but
I have just searched the group for an hour and cant find a solution the
seems to fit.
I am running Office for Mac version 10.1.6 on an iBook with Tiger
10.4.2. Word is now so slow in starting, opening files, moving from
one file to another. If I could I would do everything in another
program but my clients want Word.
I have repaired priviledges, updated Tiger, the only thing I have not
done (I hope) is reinstall Office.
Any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Hello-

Sorry you had such a hard time finding material on this issue as it has
been covered from every conceivable direction & perspective. You can
try a seach using "word x slow" (without the quotes), but one of the
most extensive & informative postings is from John McGhie, which you
can find here:

http://groups.google.com/group/micr...e0569de?q=word+x+slow&rnum=4#b7e3dbf0fe0569de

In post #2 from Beth Rosengard, click the - Show Quoted Text - link.

Also, condition of the hard drive, amount of RAM and free disk space
are key considerations as well as processor speed.

Have you considerd upgrading to 2004? I've found that with the latest
updates it hums like an Indy racer.

Office is slow, it's buggy, it crashes, it does weird things you don't
want it to ... hey, it's a Microsoft application, do you really expect
it to work? :)
