Word issues permissions error winodw when trying to save a file

I first noticved this happening after I installed Windows OneCare. When I
save a document, an error window opens saying that Word cannot save the file
due to a permissions error. It would show the filename with a temp extension.
Clicking either response usually trashes the file. This happens on both my
desktop and my laptop. I uninstalled OneCare from the laptop and solved the
problem. but on the desktop, the attempt to uninstall trashed the drivers for
the two CDE drives. I was able to restore the drivers by doing a Windows XP
system restore and reinstalled OneCare. With OneCar tech support's asistance,
I added MS Word to the permissions list in the firewall. Now I can repeatedly
save a file until suddenly the error message returns with a changed file name
to a backup file with a .WBk extension. I had set the options in Word to make
a backup to try preventing data loss when a file save malfunctioned.

Now periodically the error message appears with the changed filename. The
original file is saved but can not be accessed through the Open/File window
nor by double clicking on a file listing in Windows Explorer. But if I rename
the "backup of filename.wbk" file to a new docfile.doc name, I can open what
was the original file.

Since this problem went away on the laptop when I uninstalled OneCare, I am
assuming that this is the cause on the desktop even though I now have
permission listed for MSWord in the firewall. But the OneCare tech support
person does not think it is a fiewall-related issue.

Any ideas on how I can fix this problem? Even better, any ideas on why
uninstalling OneCare on the desktop also cause a yellow exclamation point
conflict on the CD and DVD drives?

Thank you.

Hi Jack,

As per your issue I would like to suggest you to delete all your temporay
files, ie

Click on Start>Run>type %temp% and click on OK
Delete all the files that you find in this folder.

and you also need to optimize your IE (Internet Explorer)

Open IE and then click on Tools>Internet Options>Click on Delete Files and
Delete Cookies.

Hopefully this will resolve your issue

Best of Luck

Regards,
