WORD KEEPS COMING UP WITH AN ERROR MESSAGE, AND THEN CLOSES

What is the error message? We can't offer much help without knowing that. It
would also help to state the version of Word and Windows you're using.

The OS is Windows 2000 and the application is Office XP

the reads in summary "Microsoft Word has encountered a proble and needs to
close". "The info you are working on might be lost, do you want to recover
work and restart Microsoft Word".

The other thing is that it ask that you send the packaged error to
microsoft. This I have done numerous times. I have download the latest
updates. Still the problem error pops up.

What are you doing when you get the error message? Opening Word? Closing
Word? Opening a document? Printing a document? Changing formatting? Etc.

I open windows and while it is blank without even calling a document, the
error comes up

I'm having he same problems as s.h.t.i. OS is Windows xp home, version of
word is 2000. 1.5 days after loading word onto computer, i get error message
"...word encountered problem & needs to close...". I sent error message, was
told to install update sr1a. Did that, continued to get error message.
Followed steps on this post, tried all. Nothing has worked.
