Word keeps crashing any ideas?

Stu

I am running office 2003 and have recently found that word has started to
crash. It either just locks up or the screen goes blank or sometimes patterns
start appearing. I have tried various virus checkers and spyware/adaware type
programs with no luck.

Thanks for the reply, tried some things from the links but did not help. The
issues I am having are during use of word not at start up. It can be anything
from the first 30 seconds to 5 minutes into using word.

Start Word in Safe Mode and test to eliminate a rogue Add-in as the problem.
From Start, Run type in

winword /a

and press enter. This will start Word bypassing all add-ins and templates,
etc. Test Word now and see if it is stable. The results of the test will
give us a better idea of where to start looking for the problem.

Tried it already in safe mode and it still crashed. I even uninstalled office
and reinstalled it with no change.
Thanks for the reply though.

That would suggest possibly either the printer driver or graphics driver.
Check with the support sites to see if they have newer drivers and download
and install them.

I have updated the printer driver, its an epson R200 and now have the latest
driver. With regad the graphics driver the one I have is the latest, I am
running a Fujitsu Amilo D laptop with ATI Radeon 9000 card. The laptop is a
pentium 4, 3.1 HT processor. This is really starting to annoy me now. is
there any way i can completely remove the word programme and reinstall the
original one without any updates. This fualt only started to show up a couple
of weeks ago and previously there were no problems.

I believe that Office 2003 uninstalls better than previous versions of
Office. You should be able to use Add/Remove Programs and uninstall it
cleanly. However, I would try Fujitsu first. The Fujitsu site will be able
to ID your laptop and display a list of any new drivers recently made
available.

Looks like I have a problem then as I have done both of those things and
still have the problem. Thanks anyway, if you think of anything else please
let me know.

Same problem, here. I solved it by removing XP2 and returning to XP1. ATI
doesn't seem to acknowledge that there is any problem like this.
