Word keeps crashing! Help!

I'm on Windows XP (Home edition) using Microsoft Word
2002. I had it quit unexpectedly on me once, and now
every time I try to go into Word it attempts to recover
my lost document. This wouldn't be so bad, but in the
process of doing this, it crashes again! It's a continual
process, really. It will ask me to send an error report
and then attempts to restart Word (without sucess), and
the whole deal starts all over again! This is quite
frustrating and I really need to use it... what can I do?
Help!

I'm having the same problem today and would love to hear
how to fix this. I updated my service pack today but that
hasn't helped.
