Word keeps disappearing on me!

A few days ago when I brought up a Word document it disappeared on me. It
loads up fine but puts it in the task bar. When I click on the task bar, it
shoots up to the upper right hand corner of the screen and out of sight. If I
click the task bar again, it comes back down from the upper right hand corner
and down on to the task bar again. This goes back and forth. It won't do it
with Publisher, Excel or anything else. I've uninstalled office and
reinstalled it but nothing helps. It has to be something simple but I just
can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Jim

What happens if you right click on the task bar icon and select Maximize?

If you can't get it back, I think you will need to edit the registry. Close
Word and then delete (or rename)
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\11.0\Word\Data
where 11.0 is version 2003, 10.0 for 2002, 9.0 for 2000
and usual caveats about editing the registry apply.

Word will recreate the key next time you start it but you will lose some
settings you may have made under Tools > Options.

If I right click on the icon on the task bar it does nothing. It looks like
the icon "flies" up and off the right side of the screen.

Since yesterday, I've come to realize it's not a Word problem.

My daughter was signed on line with AOL, she signed off and closed AOL then
went into a game called Collapse. When she closed out that game, IE opened
and tried to sign on to the Gamehouse sight. She closed that window out
before it fully signed on. When she tried going back into AOL, it did the
same thing as Word.

I have the computer set up to automatically update Macafee for virus &
spyware, so, unless it's a new virus, I don't know what else to do.

I'm not sure what to suggest really. Has the game altered your screen
resolution so that some things are off it? Does the probem remain after
rebooting?

It might be worth asking in a Windows Newsgroup as it seems to be a Windows
problem.

I just thought - can you use the keyboard?

After the window has disappeared off the screen, try pressing Alt+Spacebar
(for the Window Menu) followed by M (for Move). You may then be able to move
the window using the arrow keys and perhaps bring it back into visible
territory.
