Word labels indention

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Lately if I try to create a label, with four lines for example, and
indent each line two spaces, I can do it with the first two lines, sometimes
the third, but never the fourth. I must have goofed up. Please advise.

No offense, but your main 'goof up' comes from thinking that pressing the
spacebar crates an indent. It doesn't, and even if the 'spaces' were present
the alignment would be irregular because the same amount of space is not
created each time the spacebar is pressed.

In order to get an explanation of how to get the consistent result you're
looking for it would be best if you specify your version & update level of
Office. You also did not indicate whether you're using the Tools> Labels
feature to create sheets of labels or whether you're actually using the Mail
Merge feature - that might make a difference.

Thanks Bob. This is way over my head. The problem seems to only occur if I
write anything other than let's say a three line address - when I write
a three or four line address, all is well. And the alignment has always
been fine. But if I write a couple of sentences, as I have been doing
for an exhibition, I can indent just fine for two or three lines and then
it just balks on line four. All I do is go into Word, click on labels,
choose a size (I generally use Avery 5160 and 5163) - I don't know
what Mail Merge is. I will search it. I can generally fool around with
the sentences, and eventually get it accomplished - but it's very
frustrating, as you can imagine - as if the computer knows something
I don't (it does).

I agree with Bob:

I think you are confusing the term "Indent" with "spaces", "margins" and
"hanging indent".

I am not sure what you are trying to achieve, but I think if you format that
paragraph's style to have a left margin of 20 points, you will achieve what
you want, for all the lines, in a single operation.

Hope this helps
