Word Lags or Freezes when saving across network

Someone above has had the same issue. I checked the box that saves local
copies when saving across a network. Still having the same problems. We are
saving to a NAS drive where we run AutoCAD and Photoshop files from with no
problems. Is Word caching the saves? Is there a way to turn this off? I am
running Word 2002 (XP) and have upgraded to SP3. No Help. When this occurs,
you must hard reset the machine. Thanks.
