word launch with a media cd instead of explorer

A normal multi media cd inserted into the drive launches word and then
becomes a web doc disabling its normal useful function. It used to just
automatically launch in the explorer window allowing me to freely navigate
the cd rom. What happened and how to I fix the problem?
