Word link to Excel link to Access

I have a Word document that has a paste link to an Excel spreadsheet
that is a query from an Access database.

My problem:
The data in the database changes but the Word file doesn't update
unless the Excel file is opened and the data link is refreshed.

What's the best way to update the Word document without manually
opening the Excel file and refreshing the data?
