I have word 2000 running on XP.
I've created a new template with about 16 styles, then I composed several
document using that template. I then decided to change the formatting of
several of the styles on the template, and I would like to have those
changes carried over to the documents that I have already composed. For any
of the documents, when I click the 'Automatically Update document styles'
under the Templates and Add-in section of the Tools menu, Word locks up.
I've also tried to use the style organizer on the Templates and Add-in
screen, but for some reason that always alters the formatting of the styles
in unexpected ways. This includes the 'Heading 1' style which I have based
on the 'Normal' style and as far as I can tell the 'Normal' style in the
template and documents are the same. I have these problems on both my work
computer and home computer.
How can I get around this problem?
Thanks,
James
