Word Macro Enable/Disable Question

PumaMan

I have some MS Word docs with Macros that pull the user's name automatically
when opened. They are in a trusted file location, so the user doesn't get
prompted inconveniently.

However, I would then like to print all of these letters without getting the
prompt to Enable/Disable, BUT I want it to default to Disable Macros. This
is because the name on the bottom of the letter is the creator's and if
Macros are enabled, it will change to the modifer (associate who is
printing).

Is there a way around this? I don't have access to change my default Macro
security on MS Word, so if you tell me i'm SOL, I understand!

Thanks,
Elbio

How is the user's name being inserted in the document (I mean what code is
being used)? It sounds like it is being inserted as a field, which could be
converted to text so as not to be updated.

However, what you should really do is have the name inserted by code that
runs when a New document is created from the template so that it is only
when the document is first created that the name is inserted. You would do
that by having the code in the Document.New event or a macro named autonew.
Then the name will not be reinserted if the document is subsequently opened.
