Word Mailmerge to E-Mail

Using Word & Excel 2002, have been trying to send merged e-mails to e-mail
addresses in Excel datasource. It will create the e-mails, but will not send
them. There must be a step that we're missing in identifying an e-mail
provider. Have established a hotmail account since I understand that hotmail
has MAPI compatibility, but how do we identify the e-mail provider?

Thanks for any help!

When you say that it will create the emails but not send them, do you mean
that they are in your Outbox, but are not being sent?

Do you have an email account set up in Outlook?

Word will create the e-mail documents for viewing in Word. I have established
an e-mail account with Hotmail and have identified it by going into Outlook
selecting "tools" and adding the hotmail account as an e-mail account.

It sounds like you have not executed the merge. Best thing is to display
the Mailmerge toolbar by selecting Toolbars from the View menu and then
checking the Mailmerge toolbar item. The button second from the right on
that toolbar can be used to execute the merge to email.

After creating a Hotmail account, I have tried to merge to e-mail. I used the
Merge Wizard and completed the merge, but also used the Merge toolbar that
you recommended. The e-mails were not sent using either method.

When I select the datasource as my Outlook list, and specifically select
recipientws, it asks me to choose Profile, then it defaults to Outlook.
However, when I execute the command, I get the message "Word could not send
mail because of an MAPI failure."

Thanks for your continued help!
