Word Mass Mailing Hyperlinks

Is it possible to place hyperlinks in an e-mail newsletter created in Word
and then distributed through the mail merge function? When I have tried
this, the hyperlinks are stripped and only the text remains.

It should be possible with Word XP SP2 or later, unless later "Security
Fixes" have disabled it.
