Word-MS Office XP stops responding when typing

Word stops responding in New Document after typing several
words.
After closing and startup again, Word quits after typing
anything.
This cycle continues. Will allow printing of existing
documents.
Tried reinstalling OfficeXP - problem did not go away

Thanks for replying - no, there is no Voice Recognition
active.
WORD freezes on the first space or CR. For example, I can
type "123456lljkjoiaj" all together but when I insert the
space or CR, the program stops responding. I changed
keyboards to eliminate faulty key signals; made no
difference.
Baffling!
