word needs to convert text ????

i created a document on ms word some time ago and now when i go to open it,
it says that it needs to convert it and that i do not have the converter
installed and so to fix the problem i must insert the disc but i am at
university and the disc is far at home, i cannot open it properly!!!

the text comes up and a next jibberish font meaning nothing

if i upoad it, can someone please copy and paste the text from it and put
the contents onto a wordpad doc or something that i can open, i just need to
information from it for my work, the doc is here:

I don't think anyone is going to be able to help. This file is corrupt (or
possibly not even a Word document). If the file was saved to removable
media, it was probably corrupted that way.

I've looked but it is bad it is a totally corrupt document. There's
nothing to rescue.

No, this is what happens when you use Microsoft products incorrectly. I've
been using Word for 15 years, and I've never had a document corrupt this
way.

That file has not a single clue in it to indicate that it is a Word
document at all. In fact, it's almost too short for that: a null
document is about 20,000 bytes, yours is 24,576 bytes - so whatever it
contains, if anything, is not much.

There's no indication that document was ever a Word document.

What it looks like is a file that was deleted and then later a utility was
used to attempt to recover it. Could that have happened at some point?
