Word normal.dot template size

The normal.dot template continues to grow - exceeding 6MB. I can delete or
rename normal.dot and allow Word 2003 to create a new normal.dot; however
over the course of a week or so, the normal.dot file will grow to over 6MB.

Under Tools > Options > Save the option for "prompt to save changes to
normal.dot" should be checked. My guess is that it is not. Do so now.

A poorly written program is making regular changes to your normal.dot file.
Since you don't have this option checked, these changes are saved and
resaved and resaved each time you start and close Word. So, first, check the
option and refuse to save the changes that you haven't made. Second, find
out what program this is.
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/CheckIfAddinsInstalled.htm Decide
whether you want or need this program. If you do need it, complain to the
company that foisted it upon you. Loudly, repeatedly; send them a bill for
your time!
