word normal.dot template

we have managed to change the word template so that when we open word it
brings up writing in the new file. How do we reinstate the templat? we have
tried uninstalling office and reinstalling and that did not work. Anyone got
any ideas how we can correct it please

Delete the writing in the template?
You need to open Normal or Normal.dotm in (probably)
~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/
...and save it back AS A TEMPLATE.
Ah Normal.dot .. not only did you not say what version of Mac Word you
were on, you didn't even say you were on a PC.
It's probably the same on the dark side. Probably hidden somewhere
different.

As Elliott alluded, you've landed in a discussion group for users of Mac
versions of Word (not your fault: it's a charming foible of Microsoft's
"discussions" web interface, which I see you used). Mac versions differ
variously from PC versions, so you're probably better off continuing the
